I have rode this trail over the last 30 plus years and many parts need grading and gravel. I wish part that runs through Joliet could be paved and become part of Joliet Junction Trail
It’s a short path that went quicker than expected on rollerblades. Still a nice path to explore, well maintained for the most part. I started at Doty Park (and I did not find a skate park as mentioned in the description, that was a bummer) and continued all the way to its end (a little past Boone County Conservation District) and then headed back again. Checking out all the little forks helped me to rack up around 8 miles round trip.
I’ve ridden this trail several times. It’s beautiful, pretty well kept, and flat. In the summer, most of it is shady. This fall the colors have been beautiful!
This is as close to the perfect path as you can get! Shaded and stays cooler in the summer and is also protected by wind and colder air in the winter! Tall trees border besides of the trail providing protection from the elements. Beautiful scenery, paved and well maintained. Only one small downfall is is no restrooms. There is also a small parking lot, midway on the path, between Harlem high school and Rock Cut on Zenith Parkway.
I live close enough to bike to this ‘trail’ but to get to it I have to cross a fairly busy street as there is no parking available. This ‘trail’ is more of an extra wide asphalt sidewalk more than anything else. I do enjoy the short ride once I’m on it.
It is a great trail and super fun to bike on
Don't bother. Trail is still closed and the canal has been drained. The wildlife is gone and the trail not maintained. This is why I gave it a one star rating. There isn't a zero rating which it deserves.
I basically drove from romeoville to morris halfway from morris i started to feel like this trail was not safe when you get out from the woods park west and the bridge is gone in morris so just avoid the trail going to seneca
Road from Rock Island to Port Bryan and it was really nice and paved. Read reviews as this is a long trail with mixed surfaces. But we got 40 miles in our route an enjoyed. There’s a holiday inn in Rock Island 2 blocks form a trail head. Really good food wit Distance hin walking do
Shrubs overgrown sidewalk, broken glass, not maintained
Sunset Park is lovely, great for picnic. The trail is pretty rough. It is mostly asphalt and has a lot of cracks that have not been maintained. A couple of short bridges with wood roadbed have been repaired with sheets of 3/4 inch plywood. Signage is pretty good. We would have gone on past Moline except for the condition of the surface.
